diamonds ought not to be a girl's best friend it's not mine for sure, specially those borne out of conflict and blood. now if you have diamonds at home, i'm not going to condemn you but we should know that certain diamonds are received through bloody (literally, i'm not swearing!) underhand means. what is a wedding without a diamond ring, you demand. well, how about wearing a diamond ring, along with a few lives brutally sacrificed because of that? i am no activist but after watching Blood Diamond on vcd, armed with this knowledge, i am not going to encourage anybody to get diamonds, just in case they're ill-gotten. God you decide... just this evening, ntu crusade's staff, kris called to talk to me about serving in crusade this coming semester. before that, i have actually rejected their offer for me to be a discipleship group leader(dgl) as church commitments are quite heavy already. when kris called, she shared with me about recent staff's discussions, and she told me that my name popped out a number of times when they talk about different ministries. so, once again, she asked me if i would like to serve as a dgl. i was in a dilemma when this question came to me. first of all, i would want to serve in campus because being an undergrad is once in a lifetime, whereas i'm going to be in church for as long as i can think of. i always have the chance to serve in there. varsity is only 3 more years! so if not now, when? then again, i have already committed myself to my ministries in church, ministries in which i enjoy myself in, ministries in which i know i can fulfil my God-given gifts. therefore, i am undecided. another deal. i can also be a GIG leader which requires much less commitment but it's just as meaningful cos' a GIG leader helps non-believers who are interested in Christianity know more about Jesus. God you decide. *** my favourite street is tainted you know that junction where chijmes, raffles hotel and raffles city meet? well, at that stretch where bras basah complex is, there used to be an empty plot of land near that junction, isn't it? but now, it's surrounded by some sort of construction!!! urgh!! more tall buildings?! i like that stretch of road precisely it's not towered by tall skyscrapers. now those money-driven developers have ruined it! singapore 5 years later is not going to be the singapore i grew up with. sigh. |
