it's over
the audition is finally over.
no, not to be the next singapore idol, star idol, supermodel... whatever.
i'm referring to the audition to sing in our church's worship cd.
who would have thought that such an audition would send haphazard motions to my nerves? and we thought that being in a church would bring peace and serenity - well, that's anything but when we were waiting for our turn in the sub-hall to meet the judges.

i find it hard to believe that i, esther chang, the critic of nervous wannabes in american idol (and all other copycat shows), the skeptic of talent shows, would be getting a number to wait for audition, just so to score a place as a "recording artiste" in church!

ahh. wells, i told myself i would never want to do such a thing in the public if i could help it.
i can present a proposal. i can speak in front of others. i can sing with a small group. i can harmonise and add strength to a group of singers.
but to sing, with eyes looking at me ALONE? not exactly my cup of frappucino!

favourite food: mom's cooking
that's what we like to write in our primary 5/6 friends' autograph book under the section "personal data"/"biodata" (under the "poems for you" section, we write "roses are red, violets are blue" poems).
but it seems like most people never meant it because at that age, we ONLY eat what our moms cook. of course that's our favourite! who at 11 or 12 knows geylang tau huay or boon tong kee chicken rice? WE DON'T KNOW.
but, for me, i have a mom who cooks well... and among my favourite foods, most of them are her works. here are her famous dishes:

1. linguine aglio olio, topped with bacon bits, sausage, tomatoes and green peppers (it was me who urged her to cook it recently)
2. braised duck (we always have it during cny)
3. curry chicken with many soft-but-not-soggy potatoes (she cooks it for the occasional family gatherings)
4. century egg scallop porridge (i like to eat it with when i'm sick. it's just pure comfort)
5. black pepper beef slices with capsicums (i love beef since young and this dish is what preserved my love for beef)

oh no. i am getting out of hand! i talk more about food than important issues like global warming, politics and karl marx!
shallow marshmallow.
