after watching Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (POTC) today, i was wondering...
ARE THE MOVIE REVIEWERS POLITICIANS?! can't they loosen up and enjoy some idiosyncratic fun?

why give this movie such bad reviews? ok, maybe some parts of POTC got very dreary (ie. elizabeth screaming stupidly to ask the men to stop fighting over the key of the Chest. YAWNS), but one shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water! - which means, they can't just dismiss the movie as BLAH because of a few wrong movie directions.

i actually thought POTC is like a big, exciting and amusing Disney World ride! WHEEEEE.

totally love Johnny Depp's portrayal of captain jack sparrow! aye aye! the way he swaggers with rum in his hands and comically sashays on the sands made him an extreme joy to watch.

here, enjoy him.

on the left: gorgeous, chiselled looks. SWOON. on right: JACK SPARROW- he looks truly good with eyeliner!

Neoprints - before they become retro

angie, sihui and i went to take neoprints (yes, those colourful "kawaii" stickers!!) before we caught POTC, to feel young again. ok, it's not really because of this reason... but yea, we took it and i must say, sihui and i officially unleashed the inner hokkien ah girl in us, for one of the neoprints. haha! look at this.

SPOT THE HOKKIEN VERSION

Learning to love

i am going to get serious about this. sometimes, i find it very very hard to communicate with my father because we always end up arguing terribly if we can't agree to some things. since young, we don't talk much except for school stuff. he can get very unreasonable sometimes, even to outsiders, which frustrates me a lot. let's just say he has a short-temper. i even wrote a poem about my father when he scolded us loudly, when i was in primary five.

"naggity nag! naggity nag! daddy treats us like dirty rags!"

haha. thank God i did not turn out to be an angsty adolescent!

but at my age now, i learn so much about loving from the life of Jesus in the Bible. if we can only love the lovables, then how different are we from non christians?

i try to talk to my father more often now... about light-hearted things. i do make a conscious effort to talk to him... and to respect him. so so hard and awkward! sigh. but i'm trying.

NTU
alrights, back to NTU. there's so much red tape and things to settle just so to start my uni life. 1st of all, the planning of my own timetable! blaaaahhh. i am going to plan it in such a way that i only go to school 4 times (maximum!) in a week. yay!

There is no need to be worried by facetious people who try to make the Christian hope of "Heaven" ridiculous by saying they do not want 'to spend eternity playing harps'. The answer to such people is that if they cannot understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them. All the spiritual imagery (harps, crowns, gold, etc) is, of course a merely symbolical attempt to express the inexpressible... Crowns are mentioned to suggest the fact that those who are united with God in eternity share His splendour and power and joy... People who take these symbols literally might as well think that when Christ told us to be like doves, He meant that we were to lay eggs.
C.S Lewis

Sharp, witty, intelligent.

Travelling from Esplanade to Chinatown/Bugis/Little India
fret not people! it is not Mission Impossible or Mission Super Troublesome... now that angie and i have discovered a treasure!
it's the City Buzz!! woohoo! for adult-students like us, transport fares are monstrous killers. they rip you apart by forcing you to look at how much they've deducted from your ez-link card after each bus trip. ouch ouch OUCH.
so this bus service is truly God-send. for $1, this bus takes you to chinatown/bugis/little india in a jiffy, without you having to walk pass the loooooooooonnnngggggggggg CityLink and changing to NEL/NSL after that.

NTU-the MIT of the East?
*pui. apparently NTU wants to model itself as the MIT of the East! what?! what!? noooooooooooo!! i veto it. i am going to be an Arts student in NTU and their focus is in science and tech. sigh.
hmm, then again, God may have a special plan for all these. i may end up having a good exposure to both science and the Arts.

hey, even the sons of Timor Leste's PM and Indonesian's President are recent graduates of NTU. when i graduate, i'll be in the same league as them. :)
