TODAY is spelled S-C-R-E-W-E-D
The Quiz this morning was manageable but what bugged the rest of my day was my presentation.
ya, and i thought i could handle a presentation since speaking in public wasnt much of a problem to me.
how naive.
i was too busy preparing before the presentation (surfing the net for biblio, writing my speech notes...yadayada) that i failed to practise sufficiently! and i only had a mushroom puff for lunch which i usually enjoyed but NOT this afternoon..
no brownie points for guessing what happened during the presentation.
my tongue tripped. eeks! signs of nervousness erupted like a super active volcano. plus, the entire presentation is RECORDED. how great.
so i learned an important lesson today:
never ever EVER go into presentation half-prepared. go 200% prepared.
and this rule applies to everything.

on my way home with vanessa and denise, we were so hungry (because we didnt have a good lunch) that we salivated at the sight of kway chap and steamboat on tv mobile.besides that, i think we kinda tortured ourselves by talking about FOOD (again) on the train.
sigh. my presentation bugs me but i'm not going to let it get me down.
time to study!

cinammon rolls and green tea-flavoured food
what's the difference between them?
answer: one is brown and the other green.

ok ok, here's another.
what's the similarity between them?
answer: they're in the list of esther's "List of i-want-it-so-badly-that-i-am-willing-to-fork-out-any-price Food"

cinammon rolls. ah. they brought back fond memories of me pasting my face on the glass panes of saint cinammon shoppe at junction 8(which was eons ago), looking at the worker knead those aromatic soft rolls. i want cinammon rolls but they are nowhere to be found in s'pore!!!
anyone who knows where to get cinammon rolls, please tell me!

and green tea food. oh. they are great as well! my cousin recently bought some green tea nougats and man, they were goooooooodd.
the light taste of green tea accentuated the hard crunch of nougats :D i like green tea mochi too! and green tea ice-cream!

comfort food is needed this period. somehow, i seem much much more busy this semester than the last, rushing projects till 3am in the morning. :(
i need to draw closer to God now. enough said, better spend more time reading His Word. and my lecture notes :P

advertisements: my love/hate relationship
because of my presentation project on advertisement communication, i surfed out many excellent (and witty) advertisements in youtube (i love youtube! it's a treasure cove!). i'm won over by this particular ibm ad on business solutions. it's laugh-out-loud funny, especially the second part! it must have been produced when harry potter was in a rage!

can't help it... though i hate apple's aggressive advertising tactics (they propagate consumerism! urgh!), i have to admit, i like this advertisement that first came out in singapore a few years ago. the dancers are sleeeek.

well, love the wit and images of ads but hate the consumerism that comes with them.

our birthday girl, moved to tears

we grew up together since secondary school in church

3 of us :D

everyone

In advance
After seeing how much fun a 21st birthday can have, I am convicted to celebrate mine!
Rachel's 21st birthday celebration was great! She had all the presents she wanted and most importantly, there was a time to bond with her family and friends.
Hence, to make my 21st birthday celebration heart-warmingly fun and special, i embarked on dreaming about THAT day..

1st possibility: Celebrate it at a quaint, chill-out cafe (I'm thinking of Buckaroo at andrews ave but it's quite inaccessible) with good music, good cafe bites and loads of laughter.
2nd possibility: Have it at botanic gardens under a canopy, with teacakes and pastries :) Sounds great doesn't it? But angie thinks that it sounds more like a wedding ceremony rather than a birthday celebration, which i suddenly realise it does. And maybe it'll be awfully humid and warm!
3rd possibility: Spend it at my cousin's condo's function room, with good catered food, games and loads of laughter from friends and family.

funfunfunfunfun. it's fun fantasizing about the possibilities though i don't know for sure if it would materialize :D

Show me some family love
after rachel's bday celebration, i headed down to godma's for dinner with sarah and angie. as usual, it's great food (love godma's freshly-baked apple pie with cinnamon and dow suan) and fabulous company.

showing their prowess @ the mini gym at godma's.

why is my cousin so tall? (actually, he was taller when i was younger!)

How great and awesome is God!
When they assigned me last sunday to play the piano for last night's prayer meeting, i froze in my seat and said "SHOOTS". Whhh..aatt?
i got to admit, you can ask me to lead a worship on the spot or shout a cheer in the middle of orchard road, but to play the piano in PRAYER MEETING? - i am not THAT confident yet.
I was afraid... afterall, ALL the piano players for prayer meetings are THE EXPERTS like moses, job and cheri. And me?
A mere grade 5 small fry!!!!

The day before, I even got my family to pray for me cos i was seriously freaking out. what if i stopped the whole flow of worship with slips?!
Then GOD reminded me: He will use the weak to shame the strong!
Yes, that's it and all that i needed to know.
So, up till the time i needed to play, there was a strange sense of calmness and composure, an inner peace from the Spirit within me.
And praise the Prince of Peace and the giver of all things good, He annointed me to play! It was rocky in the beginning but after that, during high praise, my fingers glide through the ivory keys effortlessly.

When my way home from prayer meeting, moses sms-ed me and affirmed me that teacher lingling said i played well :D

I went home with grins and satisfaction. It's over... and God has used me, this imperfect vessel to manifest His greatness.

Propose!
Just this sunday, zhongren proposed to shuhui and we were part of it! It was really fun to plan together with him and spring this wonderful surprise for shuhui. We all enjoyed being part of this romantic proposal :D

Singaporeans who have nothing better to do
Sarah is working in IRAS and she has to take calls from people who have questions about filing their income tax. Over mom's specially-prepared steamboat dinner just now, she told me about this lady who is obviously off-centre and deluded. It's terribly funny!
here goes her story... (according to sarah)

Sarah: Hello, may I help you?
Off-centre aunty: Yes, I'm calling to check my son's income tax.
Sarah: Name?
OC aunty: *rattles off some jap name* eg. takada hiroshima
Sarah: Oh.. Your son is japanese?
OC aunty: Yea, he's japanese... because his father is. His father is actually from Taiwan... And he cheated on a lot of women.. *rambles on and on*
Sarah: (checks computer system, and replies in a distracted manner) Yes yes.. I see.
OC aunty: You know, his father and i are actually liang shan bo and zhu ying tai? You know how i know? Because guan ying niang niang told me in my dreams...
Sarah: HUH! aunty, cannot be lah... these things are not real.
OC aunty: You don't believe ah?
Sarah: Aunty, it's really not real...
OC aunty: Are you a Christian? Actually, we were Adam & Eve. I am Eve but my son's father.. blah blah blah *she carries on and on and talked about guan ying niang niang, monkey god and her being Eve.
Sarah: (exasperated) Aunty, cannot be lah.
OC aunty: You don't believe ah? Never mind... (hangs up)
Sarah: .....

And there's this guy who called and enquired why didn't he get any income tax form. Worried, he called to file his income tax. So sarah asked him if he's earning more than $22,000 a year. He said NO. SIGH. THEN DON'T HAVE TO FILE.

There's also this case that's quite sad.
This man called to tell sarah that his late wife used to file income tax for him... But now, he has to do it himself since his wife has already passed away. It's depressing to hear such stories.
